HomePlan
Draw the plans of your house, room by room, utility networks included.
HomePlan draws walls, openings and rooms, then the technical networks: electrical, plumbing, ventilation, solar panels.
Everything is done in the browser, with no software to install.
HomePlan is in preparation. It will join the Etrebil subscription catalogue when it is released.
Every feature of HomePlan
54 features in 10 areas
Plan drawing
- Draws walls in a chain, with entry of their length, thickness and alignment, load-bearing or partition.
- Places doors, windows, garage doors and passages in a wall, with their size, sill height and opening direction.
- Draws straight or quarter-turn staircases and outdoor steps.
- Dimensions the plan, or links a dimension to an opening so that it follows changes, and adds free annotations: arrows, lines and text.
- Snaps the cursor to the grid, to endpoints, midpoints, intersections and notable angles; Ctrl or Shift disables snapping.
- Selects one object or several with a selection box, moves it, rotates it, resizes it or adjusts it with the keyboard arrows.
- Undoes and redoes actions step by step.
- Places a scanned plan as a background, scaled to a known dimension, and redraws over it.
Levels and building
- Stacks the levels from basement to attic, each with its own elevation, ceiling height and floor thickness.
- Adds a floor above, a basement or a copy of the current level; the floor below stays visible as a layer under the one you are drawing.
- Places gable, hip, lean-to, flat, turret or dome roofs, with slope, overhang and thickness.
- Draws broken (mansard) attics with dormers and roof windows, the walls of the attic floor stopping under the rafters.
- Draws interior or exterior insulation at its thickness and notes it on the plan.
- Finds the whole house in a tree browser: a click selects the object, and its properties appear in the adjacent panel.
Rooms, terrain and plot
- Recognizes the rooms closed by the walls, names them and calculates their area.
- Draws the plot boundaries, gives its area and dimensions the setbacks to the boundaries.
- Sets the slope, elevation and orientation of the natural terrain, carried over to the elevation and the section; a basement is exposed on the side where the terrain falls away.
Elevations, sections and 3D tour (Windows)
- Pulls the elevations from the plan with a single line: openings, floors, roof and natural terrain appear, dimensioned automatically.
- Opens the four cardinal elevations in a single gesture, or an elevation line at the chosen angle.
- Draws sections wherever you want: cut walls, slabs, staircase step by step, roof frame and buried basement.
- Displays the volume in three dimensions: you turn around the building or step inside and walk from one room and one floor to another.
- Shows or removes the roof, the ceilings and the terrain with a checkbox.
- Displays a wall flat with its openings, to read it without the rest of the plan.
Technical networks by trade (Windows)
- Switches from one trade to another: Construction, Ventilation, Electrical, Plumbing and Solar; the toolbar and the panel offer only what concerns the chosen trade, and the building goes to the background.
- Ventilation: places vents, air inlets, unit and ducts; calculates flow rates, velocities and pressure drops, and animates the air on the plan.
- Electrical: places sockets, light points, appliances, panel, trunking and conduits; splits into circuits and checks power, fill and rows of the panel.
- Plumbing: places sanitary fixtures, manifold, water heater, stack and pipes; checks pressures, velocities and drain fill, and makes the water flow in simulation.
- Solar: places module arrays on the roof slopes and studies production, shading, strings and inverter.
- Construction: checks the exit height of chimney stacks.
- Lists for each trade the points to check, with a button to see them on the plan and, when the fix is obvious, a button to apply it, which Ctrl+Z undoes.
- Guides each trade step by step in the order in which one works, with a right-click on the plan that suggests what can be placed at that spot.
- Displays a color legend for the trade in a corner of the plan.
Files, sharing and exports
- Saves each project in a readable .archiplan file, stored wherever you like and opened with a double-click.
- Opens a sample house to try the elevations without drawing anything.
- Exports to a PNG image and to DXF format to continue the drawing in other software.
- Web: keeps plans in the account, with the last hundred versions and the first, to go back and see who wrote what.
- Web: shares a plan with a person by their email, for reading, comments or drawing, or by a read-only link with optional password and expiry.
- Web: lets a person who reads a plan take a copy of it into their own space.
- Web: a single pencil at a time, the owner being able to take it back, and a save based on an outdated version is refused rather than overwriting.
Help and languages
- Interface in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, switchable without restarting.
- Offers four guided tutorials (ventilation, electrical, plumbing, construction) on a sample project, played by a pointer that you can stop in order to do it yourself.
- Remembers the language choice at each launch, and the names of levels and rooms stay in the language of whoever created them.
On your devices
- Windows: full desktop application, with everything above.
- Web: plans in the browser, with the drawing tools, the composition and properties panel, accounts, sharing and history.
- On the web, the plan calculation is done in the browser; the server keeps the documents and arbitrates the permissions.
Good to know
- The web version is a partial port of the Windows version: what it lacks is listed at the end of the page.
- HomePlan requires a Etrebil subscription; offline, it works during the grace period of the plan.
- The checks for each trade are guides for drawing, not an execution study: have your plans validated by a professional.
- The built-in getting-started guide remains in French.
- The drawing fonts on the web travel with the application; if they are missing, dimensions and room names do not appear.
Planned (not available yet)
- Elevations, sections and 3D tour in the web version.
- Five trades (construction, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, solar) and their points to check in the web version.
- Electrical panel, per-wall view and plan legend in the web version.
- DXF and PNG export and tutorials in the web version.
