Architecture and processes

Map your processes and your systems, and keep your DORA registers.

In preparation Create an accountAlso for

Archi & Processus draws the company's processes (BPMN) and the architecture of its information system, and helps keep the DORA registers (ICT providers, risks). The personal data and legal basis fields help identify GDPR processing activities; they do not form a complete record of processing activities.

Archi & Processus is in preparation. It will join the Prophetix subscription catalogue when it is released.

Every feature of Archi & Processus

92 features in 11 areas

Model, navigation and collaboration

  • Models the enterprise in ArchiMate 3: more than sixty element types spread across strategy, business, application, technology, physical, motivation and implementation.
  • Links elements with the twelve ArchiMate relationship types (composition, aggregation, assignment, realization, serving, access, influence, triggering, flow, specialization, association, junction).
  • Organizes the model in folders, adds its own folders and reorganizes by drag and drop.
  • Filters what is offered by ArchiMate viewpoint, or builds its own viewpoints.
  • Keeps several models: create, rename, duplicate, delete, save as, and statistics by layer and by type.
  • Adds to any element documentation, custom properties (key and value), labels, attached documents and an assigned diagram to drill down into the detail.
  • Replaces one element with another, updating all the diagrams that use it.
  • Searches the whole model with a global search, keeps favorites, comments on elements and maintains a glossary linked to the elements.
  • Takes snapshots of the model, compares two of them and keeps a history of changes with their author and date.
  • Displays a dashboard and a repository health view with the anomalies to fix.
  • Cleans up the model: spots duplicates, merges them by choosing a master element, applies batch operations and traces links in a traceability matrix.

Diagrams and editor

  • Draws ArchiMate diagrams, BPMN, EPC, value chains (VACD), value stream maps and free sketches.
  • Places elements from the palette or from the model tree, resizes them, nests them and names them directly on the drawing.
  • Draws connections in a chain, with automatic direct or orthogonal routing, waypoints and labels that can be shown or hidden.
  • Aligns and distributes, snaps to the grid with guides, lays out the diagram automatically and moves around it with a minimap and several zoom levels.
  • Organizes a diagram in layers and swimlanes, and colors elements according to a rule with a legend.
  • Finds an object with a search in the diagram and switches from the tree to the drawing by cross-selection.
  • Undoes and redoes without limit, with a history panel where you can go back to any point.
  • Displays a diagram as a table, or in full-screen presentation mode.

Business processes

  • Models processes in BPMN, EPC and value chains, and links an overall process to its subprocesses through assigned diagrams.
  • Walks through a process step by step in a guided tour, and presents an EPC diagram path by path.
  • Simulates a BPMN or EPC process chosen from the list of diagrams.
  • Gives modeling advice in the properties panel, such as naming a function with a verb or an event with a past participle.
  • Reuses the same business object across several process diagrams, after measuring the diagrams affected by changing it.
  • Checks a diagram: missing name, invalid connector, isolated element, missing start or end in BPMN; produces from it a Word report and the list of processes.
  • Creates custom symbols for process diagrams.
  • Records on an object the presence of personal data and its legal basis, and warns when that basis is missing.
  • Runs executable processes, distributes tasks to be claimed then completed, and tracks instances in a monitor.
  • Tracks performance indicators with targets and alert thresholds, and spots execution variants and bottlenecks.
  • Calculates the cost of processes and simulates change scenarios, including a Monte Carlo simulation.

Strategy and capabilities

  • Manages about fifteen element catalogs, for example the organization chart and stakeholders, as a list or as a tree.
  • Organizes enterprise capabilities in a numbered tree, with a heat map of maturity, risk and strategic alignment.
  • Shows strategic coverage: which capabilities serve which objectives.
  • Analyzes a value stream step by step.
  • Draws a technology radar and a stakeholder dashboard, which can be exported.
  • Keeps a catalog of the company's entities and generates the organization chart from it.
  • Cross-references elements and relationships in a relationship matrix, read-only or editable.
  • Queries the model with a query builder, whose queries can be saved to a file.

Analysis, quality and governance

  • Measures the impact of a change: everything that depends on an element, with the affected elements added to a diagram.
  • Compares a current situation with a target through a gap analysis, and draws a dependency graph with shortest path and filters by layer.
  • Compares what-if scenarios before deciding on a change.
  • Checks model quality: orphan elements, relationships not permitted by ArchiMate, duplicate names, missing documentation, empty diagrams.
  • Validates the model against the ArchiMate 3.2 rules and reports violations by severity.
  • Records architecture decisions (ADR), organizes reviews with annotations and follows a governance workflow.
  • Offers starter templates for the phases of the TOGAF ADM method and a library of diagram templates.

Risks, resilience and DORA

  • Keeps the risk register with a likelihood by impact matrix and a heat map.
  • Assesses a provider for DORA: supported function, substitutability, concentration, data sensitivity, planned clauses and tested continuity plan, with a calculated score that can be adjusted.
  • Keeps the provider catalog with their assessments and the name of the person who approves them.
  • Keeps the register of ICT service providers: contract, LEI identifier, criticality, dates and locations of data processing.
  • Declares ICT incidents and tracks the deadlines for the initial notification, the 72-hour report and the final report.
  • Keeps the ICT risk register with likelihood, impact, residual risk and mitigation measures.
  • Brings these registers together in a DORA dashboard, and exports the register of information to XML as well as text reports.
  • Browses an audit trail in which each entry carries a SHA-256 fingerprint that can be verified.

IT estate and data centers

  • Manages the application portfolio and suggests a TIME-type recommendation for each application.
  • Inventories IT assets (servers, network...) with bulk actions, import and export, and a link to rack equipment.
  • Keeps the inventory of access means: cards and badges, door codes, tokens and authentication systems.
  • Feeds the model from the database of the Prophetix CMDB application.
  • Manages racks and their equipment in elevation, electrical power and its tolerance, capacity, sensors and air conditioning, and cabling.
  • Provides catalogs of equipment templates and rack audits.
  • Draws buildings and their floor plans, with walls, objects and placed racks, saved at every gesture.

Projects, costs and tickets

  • Keeps a project catalog with progress reports: health, trend, tasks done and upcoming, risks.
  • Prepares a report and presents it in presentation mode.
  • Draws a roadmap as a timeline, and manages a Kanban board with columns, cards, colors, owners and linked elements.
  • Models costs: budget, orders, invoices, allocation across elements and straight-line or declining-balance depreciation.
  • Exchanges data with the budget of another Prophetix application through a synchronization tab.
  • Manages tickets linked to model elements, with filters, archiving, unarchiving and an overdue counter.
  • Synchronizes tickets, changes, the IT inventory and projects with ServiceNow.
  • Configures, tests and previews connectors to other ticketing and project tools.
  • Keeps external links to other tools and versions of the model.

Import, export and reports

  • Imports an Archi model (.archimate), elements in CSV, an XMI file and a Visio file (.vsdx).
  • Exports a diagram to SVG, PNG, XPS or to print with preview (A4, A3 and other formats, scale, pages).
  • Exports elements to CSV, a complete HTML report and the model in ArchiMate format.
  • Generates a professional document, a printable report in PDF, a slideshow and a wiki export.
  • Exports the whole model in a package that brings together diagrams and documents.
  • Guides the building of a model with welcome wizards for IT, business and technology, with import of lists of applications, servers, databases and accounts.
  • Queries the model with an AI assistant.

On your devices

  • Windows: the architecture modeler is a desktop application where a file with its documents folder contains an entire model, without a server.
  • Windows: the process editor, the DORA registers, the audit trail and the executable processes form a second desktop application, with its local database.
  • Linux: the process editor exists in a partial version; the DORA registers, the audit trail and the executable processes are not there.
  • Web: the same tool in a browser, shared by a Prophetix organization, with single sign-on, a single author at a time per diagram and models kept separate from one organization to the next.
  • Web: a desktop model can be imported and a model can be exported in the desktop format; the layout adapts to phone and tablet.
  • No Android version, and no Linux version of the architecture modeler.

Good to know

  • The quality and compliance checks verify modeling rules; they do not attest to any regulatory compliance.
  • The DORA registers and assessment help you keep your lists; the exported XML follows a format specific to the application, not the official filing format.
  • There is no complete register of data processing activities (GDPR): only the personal data and legal basis fields exist.
  • The audit trail can sign and verify its entries but is not yet fed automatically by changes.
  • Only two sample processes are executable; BPMN import and export and conversion between EPC and BPMN are not available.
  • Only ServiceNow actually synchronizes; the other connectors can be configured, tested and previewed without synchronizing.
  • The PDF report and the presentation are HTML documents, to be printed or projected, and not PDF or PowerPoint files.
  • The AI assistant requires a configured AI service; without it, it switches to offline mode.
  • The XMI and Visio imports have not been tried on real files.
  • On the web, the CMDB bridge reads a database located on the server, and several parts have not been tried on a real mobile device or on the production database.
