Your email on your computer: IMAP accounts, contacts, calendar, and encrypted emails if you wish.
Mail installs on your device (Windows, Linux and Android) and opens with your Etrebil account, the same one as for the web applications.
Mail retrieves your IMAP accounts and sends through SMTP. Messages open in tabs that can be detached; rules, templates, signatures and scheduled sending save time every day.
The local database is encrypted and protected by a master password, which Windows Hello can remember. Emails can be signed and encrypted with PGP or S/MIME.
Contacts, calendar, tasks and notes sit alongside your messages. Mailboxes can be imported and exported as EML or MBOX, and contacts as vCard.

Accounts and servers
- Retrieves your accounts over IMAP or POP3 and sends through SMTP, with the security mode (direct SSL or STARTTLS) and the authentication of your choice.
- Several accounts side by side, with one account shown at a time and a button to add more.
- Common providers preset: the choice fills in servers, ports and security (OVH, Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Orange, Free, SFR, La Poste, Infomaniak, Gandi, IONOS, Proton Mail Bridge).
- Recognizes the provider from the address entered and reminds you of what it requires, for example an app password.
- Microsoft sign-in (OAuth2) for Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live: the application never sees your Microsoft password.
- With POP3, keeps a copy of messages on the server if you ask for it.
- Adjustable connection and command timeouts, server certificate verification, optional proxy per account.
- Account settings, signatures, quick texts and templates carried from one computer to another through your Etrebil account (passwords travel separately).
- The Refresh button resynchronizes the folder with the IMAP server: messages read, flagged or deleted elsewhere are reflected here.
- Automatic synchronization at an adjustable interval (from 1 to 30 minutes), which can be turned on or off.
- A local change that has not been sent yet is never overwritten by the retrieval.

Good to know
- No web version: Mail only exists as a Windows and Linux desktop application and as an Android application.
- Rules, templates, scheduling, PGP, S/MIME, assistant, backup and mail encryption are specific to Windows; Linux and Android offer fewer of them.
- The default assistant is an analysis based on local rules; with OpenAI, the content of the analyzed messages is sent to that third-party service.
- Translating a message goes through online translation services: the translated text leaves your computer.
- Resynchronizing states between computers only covers IMAP and has been little proven on real mailboxes.
- The calendar and tasks are local: synchronization with external servers is not available.
- The Android application is not yet signed or published in a store.
Planned (not available yet)
- Synchronization of the calendar and tasks with a CalDAV server, announced but not written.
- Synchronization of contacts with a CardDAV server, announced but not written.
- Publication in the Microsoft Store and Google Play.
