Manufacturing
Multi-level bills of materials, manufacturing orders and stock kept as a log of movements, with requirements explosion and cost price.
Manufacturing keeps an organization's production: items (raw materials, semi-finished, finished products), the bills of materials that say what each one is made of over several levels, manufacturing orders and its own stock. Exploding a bill of materials gives, for a quantity, the components to buy and the cost price at standard cost, losses included.
An order freezes the active version of the bill of materials when it is created. Its release calculates and freezes the requirements, and refuses if stock is missing, unless a release with shortage is requested knowingly. Finishing it consumes the components and records the production in a single transaction: if a component is missing, nothing is written.
Stock is the sum of a log of movements that is never rewritten: receipts, consumptions, productions, adjustments and stocktakes. It is not linked to the stock of any other Etrebil application. An order's requirements are compared with the stock of leaf components: a semi-finished item already in stock is not deducted on release. There is no reservation, no routings, no batches and no serial numbers.
Manufacturing is a web application, with Etrebil single sign-on and three roles: operator, production manager and administrator. AI agents connect to it through the MCP protocol, with the rights of the person whose token they carry, and important changes are announced to Workflows. There is no desktop application and no Android application.
Manufacturing is in preparation. It will join the Etrebil subscription catalogue when it is released.

61 features in 10 areas
Items
- Item record: reference unique within the organization, set in capitals, description, unit, type (raw material, semi-finished or finished product), standard cost and optional minimum stock.
- An item is never deleted: it is deactivated, is no longer offered in the choices and keeps its movements and its orders.
- Refuses to deactivate an item as long as it is a component of an active bill of materials or the product of an unfinished order.
- Filters items by searching the reference or the description, and by type.
- Displays costs in the currency chosen in the settings.
Multi-level bills of materials
- Several numbered versions per item, as draft, active or archived; only one active version at a time, which the database guarantees.
- Each line gives a component, its quantity for the base quantity of the bill of materials and a loss from 0 to 100%.
- An active version can no longer be modified: a new one is created, copied from an existing version if needed, and activating it archives the old one in the same operation.
- Refuses any cycle, direct or across several levels, when a line is added and on activation; the same component used in two places remains allowed.
- A raw material has no bill of materials; a component that has its own active bill of materials is expanded within that of the product that uses it.
- Refuses to archive the active bill of materials of a subassembly as long as another active bill of materials uses it.
- Deletes a draft; an archived version remains readable and still serves the orders created with it.
- Log for each bill of materials: creation, changes, activation and archiving, with the author and the date.
Explosion and cost price
- Expands a bill of materials over all its levels for a given quantity and displays it as a tree.
- Lists the leaf components to buy with their quantity, their unit cost and their cost.
- Calculates the cost price at standard cost, losses included, in total and per unit; a draft can be previewed before it is activated.
- Calculates with exact decimals and a single rounding, to six decimal places; an entry with more than six decimal places is refused rather than rounded.
Manufacturing orders
- Order code such as OF-2026-001, with an adjustable prefix, with the item, the quantity and an optional planned start date.
- Follows the cycle draft, released, in progress, finished, with cancellation possible before the end and no going back.
- Freezes the active version of the bill of materials at creation; the item, the quantity and the bill of materials of a released order no longer change.
- On release, calculates and freezes the requirements in leaf components, and refuses if stock is missing, showing the shortfall per component.
- Allows a release with shortage, requested knowingly: the order is flagged and a warning is written to its log.
- On an order in progress, the operator declares the consumption of a first-level component.
- Finishing consumes the first-level components according to the quantity produced, minus what has already been declared, and records the production in a single transaction; if a component is missing, nothing is written.
- The quantity produced may differ from the order quantity, overproduction included, but is never zero.
- Refuses to cancel an order that has consumed stock until its consumptions have been returned to stock.
- List filterable by status and by search; each order shows its requirements, its consumptions, its stock movements, its planned cost and its log.
Own stock
- Log of movements that the database refuses to modify or delete: receipt, consumption, production, adjustment, stocktake.
- An item's stock is the sum of its movements; an error is corrected by one more movement, never by rewriting the past.
- Enters a receipt, an adjustment up or down with a mandatory reason, or a stocktake that writes the difference with the counted quantity.
- Stock never goes negative, unless an administrator allows it in the settings.
- Flags the items below their minimum stock and can display only those.
- Displays recent movements or those of one item, with the linked order, the author and the reason.
- Two simultaneous operations on the same stock do not both go through: the second is replayed on the updated stock and refused if it is no longer sufficient.
Team, roles and settings
- Single sign-on with your Etrebil account; each organization sees only its own data.
- Members of the organization appear on their first visit; owners and administrators of the Etrebil organization are administrators by default, the others start as operators.
- Three roles: operator, who sees everything, starts, declares and finishes orders; production manager, who manages items, bills of materials, orders and stock; administrator, who also manages roles and settings.
- An administrator suspends or restores a colleague; the organization always keeps one active administrator.
- Without a license, or once suspended, one can only consult.
- Settings: order code prefix, negative stock allowed or not, currency of costs.
- Search for orders and bills of materials from the application banner.
AI agents and Workflows
- MCP access point for AI agents, with the rights of the person whose token the agent carries, no more and no less.
- Read tools: items, exploded bill of materials with its cost, stock levels, orders, shortages of an order.
- Write tools: create, release and finish an order, record a receipt; a read-only token does not see them.
- Announces to Workflows, in the same transaction as the change, orders created, released, finished or cancelled, bills of materials activated and stocks that fall below their minimum.
- No event is emitted for a refused change, and falling below the minimum is announced only once per crossing.
Tutorials
- Create an item.
- Create a manufacturing order.
- The tutorials guide you step by step on the application's screens.
On your devices
- Web: the complete application, with single sign-on, license and data on the server.
- Works in a browser, with nothing to install.
- No desktop application and no Android application for now.
Good to know
- The stock belongs to Manufacturing: it is not linked to the stock of any other Etrebil application and no synchronization exists.
- On release, requirements are compared with the stock of leaf components: a semi-finished item already in stock is not deducted and the release may be refused; one then releases with shortage, and finishing does consume that semi-finished item.
- No reservation: two released orders may target the same stock, and finishing decides.
- No routings, work centers, calendar, batches, serial numbers or subcontracting; a single unit per item, without conversion.
- No data import or export for now, and no HTTP API open to other applications: only the MCP access point is.
- No page has yet been tried in a browser: entries, rendering, phone layout and tutorials remain to be checked.
- The MCP tools have not been tried with a real agent token, nor the events with a real Workflows.
- Stock is recalculated on every read; behavior with thousands of items or movements has not been measured.
- Not online yet: deployment remains to be done.
